Movie Screen on Your Desk – The Samsung Touch of Color T220HD 22-inch LCD HDTV Monitor
Introduction
Before we travel too far down the road of our review, and for the sake of total disclosure, I must tell you that I now own a Samsung T220HD 22” Monitor. Upon completion of my tests of this monitor, I couldn’t resist; so, I called up the vendor and ordered one for myself.
Features / Performance
What this monitor doesn’t have, you don’t need it or maybe it doesn’t even exist. The T220HD monitor is actually a HDTV masquerading as PC monitor. Furthermore, in addition to the standard PC connection ports, it also boasts component and optical video input connections; try to find these on another computer monitor. It has decent quality sound; and it even comes with its own remote control. I mean a full fledge and full functional remote, not one of those little pea-sized, toy-like PC remote controller thingy-bobs.
Performance is likewise superb. The Samsung T220HD 22 inch LCD HDTV Monitor is very fast in terms of its response performance; it has a very fast 5ms response time, which provides for no ghosting or image blur in games or video. It is also very bright, with a brightness rating of 300 cd/m sq. This makes viewing possible even in bright rooms. If you have ever used a poorer or lesser quality LCD, then you know exactly why I mention this fact.
Picture quality is quite good; colors are realistic and vivid. Blacks, whites and grays are also near perfection in their display. And also, text is very easy to read and exceptionally clear.
Although the Samsung TT220HD was primarily designed to be used in conjunction with your PC, it is also a very good HDTV TV as well; it comes with a genuine HDTV tuner directly integrated into its design. It uses a very effective 16:9 widescreen format and is completely compatible with your favorite console games.
Sound quality is adequate, but not quite good or excellent. Therefore, if you want big or booming sound, then invest in some better quality computer speakers. The remote control is the same as you find with any other high quality TV, and works in an identical manner. And finally, the T220HD LCD monitor provides for a wall mount installation. The wall-mount doesn’t ship with the TV, but it can be easily purchased from Samsung.

Contrast ratios on this unit are excellent, and the game mode does significantly enhance resolution and response when playing fast action games. The remote provides many useful options and worked flawlessly in auto configuring peripheral devices.
While some Samsung models have displayed some minor flaws in the sound reproduction and speaker design, this particular TV performed well in all sound tests and does not necessarily require the use of an external audio system.
The TV is very solidly constructed; and the TV frame supports the flat monitor screen aptly and securely.
Conclusion
At its current price point, the Samsung LN37B550 is easily one of the best LCD TVs in its price range. Solid construction, excellent picture quality and a plethora of features enable me to highly recommend this TV.
Another Winner from Samsung — The Samsung LN32B460 32 Inch LCD TV
Introduction
Recently we ran the Samsung LN32B46032 through our well known performance and torture tests; and it should be no surprise that the Samsung LCD performed extremely well. We have never actually tested a bad LCD TV from Samsung; and this one is no exception.
Performance
While the Samsung LN32B46032 inch LCD TV does not support 1080P resolutions, it does absolutely maximize 720p resolution performance; and displays HDTV broadcasts in a very vivid, clear and visually pleasing manner. As with all Samsung LCD TVs, color reproduction is true, natural and very accurate. Blacks are truly black and deep; white colors and shades of gray are excellent.
Although this particular television doesn’t produce the fastest screen refresh rates we have seen; I have yet to test an LCD TV at this price point that performs as well. Under normal circumstances, viewers will never be able to detect the slight or subtle blurring that can occur with less capable TV monitors. In fact visually, I noticed no anomalies; and was only aware of them with the aid of some pretty sophisticated test equipment.
The built-in QAM tuner performed very well, and an enabled the TV to display HDTV programming from major networks without hassle or incident. Samsung’s QAM tuner technology works very well, so that use of this LCD TV will not require additional hardware or set-top boxes to view major network HDTV programming.
The remote unit supplied with the TV is well-made and very robust in connectivity and usability features. The remote quickly and easily found, and automatically configured, connections for any peripheral device introduced. Sound quality from the built-in speakers was clear and accurate; however, I would have liked to have seen more volume capacity from this TV. The unit’s stylish, yet neutral, design should enable it to be used in almost any setting.
Conclusion
The Samsung LN32B46032 LCD TV is a phenomenal value and first-rate LCD TV monitor. Although the TV does not provide for 1080p resolutions, the clarity and picture quality is of such high quality, that most viewers will never notice. Samsung’s ability to package the latest technology, an abundance of features, high-quality performance and do so in an LCD TV at this price is simply amazing. If you’re looking for an LCD TV that produces a stunning picture at an affordable price, then you really should look at this particular model.
