Samsung 46 series 5 LCD

samsung 46 series 5 LCDThe Question Should Be – What can’t this LCD TV do?

Drive-By Shooting Review – Samsung LN46B550 46-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color

Introduction

In today’s review, we’re taking a look the Samsung LN46B550 46 inch 1080P 120 Hz LCD HDTV; if I can the TV to start actually acting like a TV that is, it more like a robot in all that in can do. In our review today, we will learn what a very high end LCD can do.

Features / Performance

There is simply not much, in term of features that are missing from this TV. This LCD HDTV will literally do anything possibly expected from a Television and more. It has every available input and output port that you can think of, and even comes with extra HDMI ports and a USB Port. It even comes with Samsung’s visually innovative Red Touch of Color that produces a gentle, glowing and attractive red ambient light, which gives the viewing experience a much more interesting visual appeal. In short, there is nothing you will need in a TV that this LCD doesn’t offer.

The Samsung LN46B550 46 inch 1080P 120 Hz LCD HDTV does not come with the faster 120Hz refresh rate technology; however, I really was not able to see where it would ever make a difference. Image tracing, refresh and redraw rates are blazingly fast and superb; therefore, there won’t be any signs of ghosting or action blurring. High speed video games and extreme actions movies are displayed without a hiccup.

The LN46B550 has a somewhat glossy screen, and considerable glare can be observed in a room with too much sunlight or a high level of lighting. An LCD with a matte finish has a reduced level of in the sunlight; however, does not produce colors as richly or deeply as does a glossy screen. The trade off of glare versus performance may be seen in a negative light by some.

The sound from this TV is quite remarkable; and an external audio system is not required to enjoy theatre type sound. The remote control is excellent as well, and is very easy to use. In addition, the remote quickly connects to all external devices seamlessly.

Conclusion

This TV offers so much for a TV in its price range, and should definitely be considered a fantastic value. Moreover, if you want to be the go to guy for that next really big ball game then you should check out the LN46B550.

samsung lcd flat panel tvTruly High-End LCD TVs – Samsung LN46B750 46-Inch 1080p 240Hz LCD HDTV with Charcoal Grey Touch of Color

Introduction

A few weeks ago, a friend of mine at a popular online electronics retailer gave me a call. Anyway, my friend called me and asked me a pretty straight forward question – he asked ‘how would you like to test a truly great 46 inch LCD TV, one that will make you take notice?’ I thought about it for about a second and a half and then replied ‘I can do that’. Well, all the tests are finished and I’m ready to tell you what I know.

Features / Performance

My friend wasn’t exaggerating; this is the best 46 inch LCD TV I have laid my eyes on; and don’t get me started on the amount of features! Un-bleeping believable! The Samsung LN46B750 46” flat LCD has more in the way of features, bells and whistles and other ‘Stuff’ than any television I’ve ever reviewed. Unless you want a book, there is no way that I can write about them all; but, just the same, here are a few:

Of course, with a HDTV of this caliber you would expect plenty of connection options and ports, and the LN46B750 does delivers big time! HDMI, D-Sub, VGA, USB, component video, and somebody please stop me. In short and suffice to say, if you have a device to plug in, then this TV has a hole for it (was that too much?).

Medi 2.0 is Samsung’s new standard for bringing you quality Internet content on your television; it feeds and displays content from Yahoo, Flickr and other online widget supporting sites. There are plenty of these sites available; so, content options abound. Google the word “widgets” and you’ll be amazed at the number of search results. Also, you can access pictures, video and other media located on your PC directly from the TV screen with the TV remote control.

Performance on the Samsung LN46B750 46 inch flat HDTV pretty darn awesome as well. While watching ‘Spider Man’ on HD-DVD, it looked better than when I watched it in the theater. Yes it did! Colors are magnificent, zero ghosting, no blur whatsoever-this TV is just too much fun! There are two MAYBE three very, very expensive plasma TVs that rival this LCD for the crown of best picture I have ever seen on a television. How Samsung can do all of this in a TV under $2000 is simply insane.

Conclusion

Well, after careful consideration I think you should GO BUY ONE NOW!

Samsung 46 inch lcd tv

samsung 46 inch lcd tvThe Intersection of Price and Performance – HDTV Monitor Review

The Samsung LN46B630 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color

Introduction

For those of you that follow my reviews, you may remember the Samsung LN46B650 LCD TV, which is also a 46 inch LCD and older brother of the unit under review in this issue. You may also remember how much I liked that particular TV. Well with the LN46B630, there are many more similarities between the units than there are differences. While the Samsung LN46B630 is not quite as advanced as its older sibling, it is a tremendous television in its own right.

Features / Performance

The LN46B630 and the LN46B650 are almost the same in terms of features. For instance, the LN46B630 is also a 46 inch TV, it has the same 1080p and 120Hz resolution and screen refresh rate technology as the LN46B650 and it also comes with Samsung’s Red Touch of Color technology. It has the same more than adequate number of connection choices, the same Internet content options via Ethernet, and it too comes standard with a handy USB flash drive. However, they are not identical in all aspects.

For instance, the LN46B630 version of the LCD TV uses a matte finished screen instead of the glossy screen available on the 650. Moreover, the listed performance levels for the 630 are ever so slightly lower than those stated for the LN46B650 TV. But, from a performance perspective, it is almost impossible to discern between the two. The LN46B630 model offers an 80,000:1 contrast ratio and is rated a little slower with a 4ms response time. But, I couldn’t tell any difference at all; I just couldn’t.

But like I said before, they are two different TVs, and while in terms performance there’s not a lot that separates them, there are a couple of unique qualities to consider. If you prefer to watch TV in the dark then the LN46B650 model will be the much better choice; but, if you’re a daytime television fan or use the TV in a room with a lot of sunlight, then the 630 version is a much better choice for you. In short, a Matte finished LCD looks better in a room with direct sunlight, and with the 650, it’s the other way around. Another fact to note is that the 630 version of this TV cost about $400 less than the 650 version

Conclusion

If you can’t afford to spring for the extra $400 that the 650 version costs or you simply don’t like glossy screens, then the LN46B630 is for you. In fact, saving $400 makes this TV look awfully attractive to me. But then again, that’s just me.
