Killer LCD HDTV Reviews – The Samsung LN37B550 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color
Introduction
The Samsung LN37B550 LCD HDTV is a phenomenal LCD television that is in very high demand by average users and home theater enthusiasts alike. This Samsung TV offers the ultimate in features and performance at a very substantial price. Today let you know if this TV is worth it.
Features / Performance
It doesn’t make lot of sense spending much time going over the features that the LN37B550 has; there are simply too many of them. I think it is safe to say that if you are looking for a specific feature in a LCD TV then this one has it. No other 37 inch television comes close in the number of cool features.
All the noise happens to be true this time. The LN37B550 has terrific contrast ratio and response time, simply magnificent picture clarity and depth, unreal color display and on and on and on and on. Performance is second to none. Picture quality is breathtaking and there is no ghosting or image blurring. What more could you ask for?
On the other hand, it also has every feature known to man. It has more connection types than you could possibly figure out a use for, delivers adequate sound and connects to every imaginable source device. So in short, this TV has absolutely no weaknesses.
But, huh……..
This LCD HDTV is as good as I have seen; it really is. But as good as it is, I really recommend buying this TV. It sounds insane, I know. But listen a minute, if you would. This TV is just too expensive. If you consider the fact that Samsung offers 720p enabled 37 inch models that offer similar features and a tad less performance, at much lower prices.
If you follow my reviews, then you know my thoughts on 1080p resolution. I find 1080P to be almost useless in smaller sized LCD televisions; you just can’t tell the difference between the two technologies in terms of viewable picture quality on a 37 inch television. If you can, please teach me to do so.
Having been witness to other Samsung TVs and their quality and performance, I simply can’t justify the more than $300 price jump from 720p to 1080p for a TV this size. But, if you have to have 1080P on your LCD TV, by all means, buy one.
Showdown of the Sale-Priced TVs:
The Samsung LN40B550 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color
Introduction
While doing our annual sale-priced showdown of HDTV’s, there was no avoiding the Samsung LN40B550. The TV is so popular, that to do so would not be wise. This LCD TV is literally flying off the shelves of retailers. Today, we find out why.
Features / Performance
Let’s start with the obvious, screen size is an ample 40 inches and is suitable nearly any setting or room in your home. It has an over abundance of connection types that will never leave you wanting for a place to plug in that stray console game. It has four HDMI (yes I said four), two component video plug-ins, a composite video connection, a PC connection, a USB connection — need I go on? This TV will literally work with anything you throw at it.
The TV offers an enhanced game mode and also includes Samsung’s Red Touch of Color technology, which produces an ambient light that makes for a very cool viewing experience. It offers Samsung’s terrific integration of the QAM HDTV tuner technology, which enables you to receive major broadcast network HDTV signals without an external box or device.
Finally, it offers very good quality sound from its integrated speakers and one of Samsung’s legendary remote controls – which is the “do all and end all’ of convenience in a quality remote unit. No, where features are concerned there is nothing missing.
Now let’s talk about the performance of the LN40B550 LCD HDTV; again, it leaves nothing lacking or wanting in this department. The contrast ratio of the TV is an exceptional 70,000:1; and with a 6ms response time ghosting or motion blurring will never be an issue with your high-speed video games or fast-action motion pictures. Image tracing and tracking is about as good as it gets in a LCD.
Picture quality on this LCD rivals some of the better plasma units I’ve seen and is quite exceptional. Color and clarity are out of this world, as are black color depth and perception.
Conclusion
I am generally not a big fan of 1080p technologies in smaller TVs, primarily because of the substantial price difference between 720P and 1080P technology. However because it’s on sale, there is no better value on a TV of any kind. So, go out and buy one now, before I come to my senses.
LCD TVs for the Bed Room – Samsung LN32B460 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV
Introduction
In my quest to find the perfect HDTV TV for the bedroom I ran across the Samsung LN 32D460 32 in 720P LCD HDTV. After reviewing the specs and doing some cursory research on the television, I knew I had to bring it into the lab for testing. There are a lot of interesting things about this LCD TV and I want to share them with you.
Features / Performance
The Samsung LN32B460 LCD HDTV was actually one of the least expensive TVs on my short list for consideration as the perfect LCD TV for the bedroom; however that does not mean it doesn’t have plenty of features. Quite to the contrary, this LCD HDTV actually has more features than the others I have considered. For instance, this TV boasts three HDMI ports, two component video connections and a PC connection; it offers all of this for price under $600.
Not only does it come with an abundance of connection options, it offers some other very useful features as well such as a built-in QAM HDTV tuner. The QAM tuner provides for display of major broadcast HDTV signals without the need to purchase an external cable box. In addition, it produces quite good stereo surround sound. This is particularly important when choosing a television for the bedroom, as you probably won’t be connecting an external audio system. The speakers produce clear and accurate sound, both for music and movies.
Just because I want a TV for my bedroom, and not my entertainment room, doesn’t mean I am willing to sacrifice picture quality and performance. Fortunately, with the LN32B460 I don’t have to. Although this TV uses 720P resolution technology instead of the newer and more popular 1080p standard, the picture quality is simply amazing. In fact, I have yet to see a 32 inch LCD TV with a better picture, regardless of resolution type or price. Images are clear and vibrant; likewise, colors are deep, rich and true.
This TV boasts impressive contrast ratio and response time numbers, 50,000:1 and 6ms respectively; furthermore, there is no visual ghosting or image blurring, even when tested with high-speed video games or movie sequences.
Conclusion
I think we have a winner folks; the Samsung LN32B460 is a tremendous value in a 32” LCD TV. It’s incredible performance, wide assortment of features and very attractive low price make for an almost perfect combination. I strongly suggest you consider this TV.
