What’s Hot Review – The Samsung PN42B450 42-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV
Introduction
The Samsung PN42B450 42 Inch 720p Plasma HDTV is a popular plasma TV that has been generating a lot buzz among the major online retailers lately; therefore, I thought I would sucker one of them into sending me one to do a drive-by shooting review on. They did; so, I am. Read on to get the low-down on this television.
The Good
If you follow my reviews, then you know that I am always impressed with the way Samsung maximizes the potential of 720p resolution technology; and how they don’t integrate 1080p simply to make their televisions more expensive. That being said, the Samsung PN42B450 42-Inch 720p Plasma HDTV is another excellent example of how viable 720p really still is. In fact, I have I have yet to see another 42 inch plasma TV that that has better picture quality than this one. I have stated time and again that 1080p technology is virtually useless in TVs smaller than 50 inches, and I stand by that statement.
The picture quality of this TV is simply superb; colors are vibrant, rich and true. Contrast and resolution response is exceptional indeed, and avid gamers and fast action movie fans won’t have any problems with ghosting or motion blurring. As is the case with virtually all plasma televisions, the TV displays black, white and gray shades of color perfectly.
Connection type and availability is good, and you should easily be able to find a port on the TV to satisfy your peripheral device needs. In fact, the TV even comes with a PC and USB port for direct viewing of images and videos, from your computer.
Sound quality on this TV is excellent; and the remote control is well designed and durable. Moreover, the remote quickly recognizes and easily auto configures for virtually any external peripheral.
The bad
Actually, there’s not much wrong with this TV. However, it is a plasma TV; therefore, it does generate heat and plenty of it. Also, the TV is very heavy and a good deal of care will be required, should you choose to wall-mount this plasma television. Plasma TVs also consume a lot of electricity.
The ugly
This is a great plasma TV; the only ugly thing about this TV is how bad it makes me feel — because, I don’t have one.
