Phenomenal Value LCDs — The Samsung LN32B550 32-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color
Introduction
Recently we ran the Samsung LN32B550 through the gauntlet to find out what it was made of; and it was no surprise that the Samsung LCD performed admirably well. I don’t know if we have actually ever tested a bad LCD TV from Samsung; and this one did Samsung proud once again.
Features / Performance
The Samsung LN32B550 inch LCD TV support 1080P resolutions, it displays HDTV broadcasts in a stunning, clear and vibrant manner. As with all Samsung LCD TVs, color reproduction is excellent and colors are true, natural and very accurate. Blacks are deep and rich; white colors and shades of gray are superb as well.
While the LN32B550 isn’t quite the fastest 32 inch TV we have tested; it is very close to the top; and I have not as of yet tested a LCD TV at this price point that performs even nearly as well. In most circumstances, viewers will never notice or detect image ghosting or image blurring that often occurs with less expensive LCD TV. While viewing the television, I noticed no anomalies; and was only made aware of them, because of our high priced test equipment.
The integrated Samsung QAM tuner performed flawlessly, and an allowed the TV to display HDTV programming from our local major networks without hassle or a lot of configuration. The QAM tuner works in a way that will not require additional hardware or external boxes to enjoy HDTV broadcasts on the major networks.
The remote unit supplied with the LN32B550 is durable and very easy to use. The remote quickly and easily finds, and configures, connections for external source devices. Sound quality from the built-in speakers was above average; but, I would have liked to have seen volume power from the integrated amplifier.
Conclusion
The Samsung LN32B550 LCD TV is a great value and even better LCD HDTV television. The TV does a great job displaying 1080p resolutions, and the clarity and picture quality is exceptional. How Samsung can manage to package the latest technology, tons of useful features, high-quality performance and do it in an LCD TV below $800 is stupefying. If you’re looking for an LCD TV that delivers fantastic performance, produces a gorgeous picture at a crazy low price, then you really should look at the Samsung LN32B550.
