Budget Price LCD TV Showdown:
The Samsung LN40B530 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV
Introduction
In determining possible candidates for our Budget Price LCD TV Showdown, there was no escaping the Samsung LN40B530. The TV is wildly popular; so, not to include it would just be wrong. This LCD TV’s sales performance are the stuff product legends are made of. Well, I intend to find out, and let you know, why.
Features / Performance
Always best to start with the basics, screen size is an adequate 40 inches and will fulfill the viewing needs of virtually any setting or room in your home, save for the very largest of rooms. It has plenty of connection types that should satisfy all of your needs to connect peripherals or game consoles. It has three HDMI connections, two component video plug-ins, two composite video connections, a PC connection and much more. The LN40B530 should work with almost any external device you can imagine.
The TV offers an enhanced game mode and also includes Samsung’s terrific integration of the QAM HDTV tuner technology, which enables you to receive major broadcast network HDTV signals without an external box or device.
Finally, it offers much better than average quality sound from its integrated speakers and one of Samsung’s famously known remote controls – which is the “do all and end all’ of convenience in a quality remote unit. No, where features are concerned, this TV sure doesn’t lack much.
On to the performance of the LN40B350 LCD HDTV; again, there isn’t much more you could ask for in performance from a television. The contrast ratio of the TV is an impressive 60,000:1; and with a 6ms response time, you will not notice any ghosting or motion blurring with your high-speed video games or fast-action motion pictures. Image tracing and tracking is outstanding and the picture quality is fantastic as a result.
Picture quality on this LCD is as good as you’re going to get in an LCD, and even rivals some better plasma TVs. Color and clarity are simply superb, so is the black color depth and perception.
Conclusion
I usually don’t advocate 1080p technology in smaller TVs, simply because of the generally large price difference between 720P and 1080P technology. However, somehow Samsung has made this 1080p enabled TV very affordable; so much so that you probably won’t find a better value on a TV of any kind. So, just this once, go for it – step up to 1080p.
