The Samsung LN40B550 is hot! No doubt about it. The TV is so popular that is hard to find in stock at almost all retailers and online shops. This LCD TV is literally flying off the shelves, and today, we find out why.

Features / Performance

Let’s start with what is staring us in the face, screen size is a medium sized 40 inches and is great for bedrooms or even in the main room of apartments and smaller home. It has a plethora of connection types that will probably be more than you will ever need. It has four HDMI ports (I did say four), two component video plug-ins, a composite video connection, a PC connection, a USB connection – whew.. I am tired. But, you get the point. This TV will literally work with device source you can imagine.

The TV has an enhanced game mode and also brings you Samsung’s Red Touch of Color technology (TOC), TOC produces an soft, red ambient light that provides a very pleasant viewing experience. The LN40B550 has Samsung’s awesome integration of a QAM HDTV tuner that allows you to view major broadcast network HDTV signals without an external box.

Finally, it produces better than average sound from its built in speakers and it comes with one of Samsung’s fabulous remote controls – which is literally a titan of convenience in a high quality remote control.

Concerning the performance of the LN40B550 LCD HDTV; again, it is truly impressive for a TV of this price range and size. The contrast ratio of the LN40B5500 is an excellent 70,000:1; and the 6ms response time means ghosting or motion blurring will never be an issue with your high-speed video games or motion pictures. Image tracing and tracking are also outstanding on this LCD TV.

Picture quality on this LCD is as good as many of the better plasma units I’ve seen is quite extraordinary. Color and clarity are near perfection, as are black color depth and perception.

Conclusion

I am usually don’t really support 1080p technologies in smaller TVs, because of the huge price difference between 720P and 1080P technology. But, this TV is awesome and it’s affordable. At this particular time, I don’t believe there is a better value on a TV of any kind. So, go out and buy one for every room in your house!
