Low Priced LCD TVs – The Samsung LN40B550 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color
Introduction
While searching for our group of best Low Priced HDTV’s, the Samsung LN40B550 came up time after time as a recommendation. The TV is wildly popular; so, we literally had to include it for consideration. This LCD TV is making people stand in line at retailers. Today, we find out why.
Features / Performance
Let’s start with what we can see, screen size is a substantial 40 inches and is useful in nearly any location or room in your home. It has a staggering number of connection types that will never make you search for a place to plug in that extra game console. It has four HDMI ports, two component video plug-ins, a composite video connection, a PC connection, a USB connection and too many more for this list. You will have a hard time finding a source device that this TV doesn’t support.
The TV has an enhanced game mode and also offers Samsung’s Red Touch of Color (TOC) technology. TOC is really cool; it produces an ambient light that makes for a very appealing, and different, viewing experience. The LN40B550 uses Samsung’s fantastic integration of a QAM HDTV tuner, which allows you to view major broadcast network HDTV signals without an external box or device.
Also, it produces excellent good quality sound from its built-in speakers. The TV comes with one of Samsung’s awesome remote controls – which are the reference standard in terms of features and ease of use.
The performance of the LN40B550 LCD HDTV leaves nothing lacking or to be desired. The contrast ratio of the TV is outstanding at 70,000:1; and its 6ms response time means ghosting or motion blurring will not be an issue with your high-speed video games or fast-action motion pictures. Image tracing and tracking are also superb.
Picture quality on this LCD is as good as some of the better Plasma TVs I have reviewed. Color and clarity are simply phenomenal, as are black color depth and perception.
Conclusion
I am usually not an advocate of 1080p resolution technology in smaller TVs, simply because of the big price difference between 720P and 1080P technology. However because of the insanely low price of this TV, there is no better value on a TV of any price or type. Pick me up one, while you’re out. Please!
