Tough and it Sings Too! – The Samsung SyncMaster 920BM 19-inch LCD Monitor
Introduction
The Samsung SyncMaster 920BM 19 Inch LCD Monitor was designed with one goal in mind – to be a ”Steady Eddy”, reliable workhorse monitor in today’s modern office. Excellent build quality, stereo speakers and a very affordable price, make this a great candidate for work without too many distractions. Not a lot of bells and whistles here, but the monitor performs very well indeed.
Features and Performance
The SyncMaster 920BM 19” LCD Monitor has all your truly basic needs in a monitor covered, and doesn’t provide for very much in the way of extras. It was designed to be used in the office and its 19 inch screen is large enough for multitasking or working on long spreadsheets.
The SyncMaster 920BM displays color accurately and vividly, and shows text and images in a clear and accurate manner that does not cause fatigue or eye-strain. The SyncMaster also helps increase the useable space on a desk, by integrating decent sounding speakers that are built into the monitor itself; therefore, external speakers aren’t needed.
With a very good 160 degree wide viewing angle, the SyncMaster 920BM monitor allows two or more people to view the screen at the same time without experiencing too much glare or shadowing. The SyncMaster 920BM is not the fastest LCD monitor we have ever tested; however, its 5ms response time is very good and will be more than capable of handling the toughest business related business tasks.
The Samsung SyncMaster 920BM 19” LCD Monitor did display a small weakness though, like the unit’s dot pitch; at .294mm this is considerably higher than we would have expected to see in a high quality monitor. Nevertheless, text imaging is very good; not outstanding, but suitable for extended text viewing without too much eyestrain.
The 920BM’s color and brightness display performance was superb. Colors are displayed in a natural and accurate fashion and shades of black, white and grey are deep and pure. The monitor’s color matching abilities produces true CMYK or RGB color accurately for output to devices such as ink-printers or PDF generation software.
In addition, the SyncMaster performed very well in our power consumption level tests, and should be able to assist in keeping the electric bill in check.
Conclusion
The SyncMaster 920BM is a durable and reliable monitor that handles the everyday abuse of an office environment effortlessly and with ease; its low energy consumption and affordable price make it a great candidate for use in any office.
