The Samsung SyncMaster 920BM 19 Inch LCD Monitor is a good quality, low priced LCD Monitor with integrated stereo speakers. Designed to be a work horse in the home or office, and not really designed for serious gaming or multimedia tasks, this unit performs those duties dependably and admirably.

Features and Performance

The SyncMaster 920BM 19” LCD Monitor has everything you need, and nothing you don’t, in a dependable, reliable, work-horse of a monitor. Its screen size of 19 inches is designed to give the user ample real estate for multitasking or working on those long spreadsheets, and the color clarity and resolution show text and images in a clear and accurate manner that does not cause unneeded fatigue or eye-strain. The SyncMaster also helps reduce desk clutter, by using good sounding, quality speakers that are integrated into the monitor itself, and negate the need for external speakers.
In addition, the SyncMaster 920BM monitor boasts a 160 degree wide viewing angle, which allows two or more people to view the screen simultaneously without glare or a lack of clarity. Although not one of these fastest LCD monitors we have tested, the SyncMaster 920BM’s response time of 5ms is very respectable and should be more than adequate for high speed animations and presentations.
One area of weakness in the Samsung SyncMaster 920BM 19” LCD Monitor is the unit’s dot pitch; at .294mm this is considerably higher than we would have expected in a monitor of this caliber. Nevertheless, text imaging is good. Not excellent, but adequate for most installations. A lower dot pitch, of say .25mm, would have made a world of difference in our opinion of this monitor.
The 920BM’s color and brightness display performance was above average. Colors are displayed in a natural and convincing manner and shades of black, white and grey are excellent. The monitor produces true RGB or Pantone color matches to output devices such as printers or PDF file generating software.
Another area where the SyncMaster performed very well was in power consumption levels, which were very low, and enables it to use far less energy than others in its price range.

Conclusion

The Samsung SyncMaster 920BM 19” LCD Monitor is a well-made and dependable monitor that offers good performance and ample features at an affordable price.
