Introduction
Today I am reviewing the Samsung SyncMaster 943N 19” LCD Monitor; and while it is not one of the best LCD monitors I have tested, its above average list of features and good performance make the 943N an interesting product.

Features/Performance
The Samsung Syncmaster 943N 19” LCD Monitor is a flat panel monitor that offers a lot for the money. It performed well, but not exceptionally well, in all areas of testing that we conducted. However, if you consider that the Samsung SyncMaster 943N costs less than $200, then any shortcomings that the monitor has don’t seem as important. The Samsung SyncMaster 943 was designed to be a quality entry level 19” LCD monitor, and it achieves its design goals very well.
With a response time of 5ms, the SyncMaster 943 is more than adequate for viewing movies; and for use while playing the vast majority of games. A 5ms response time is fast enough that 99.9% of all users should never experience any ghosting or refresh problems on the screen. With a maximum vertical refresh rate of 75hz, this monitor want set any speed records; however again, it should be more than capable of handling the requests and tasks of everyday computing.
The SyncMaster uses a native resolution setting of 1280 X 1024, which is very Windows friendly and will not require additional drivers or tedious set-up processes. While the 1280 x 1024 resolution setting is lower than a few monitor in this price range, it is more than capable of presenting quality images and crisp, readable text. Colors are clearly displayed; and shades of black, white and grey are well defined and accurate.
One very interesting and noteworthy feature of the Samsung SyncMaster 943N 19” LCD Monitor is its extremely good 170 degree viewing angle. This is a feature normally only found in much more expensive LCD monitors; and one which enables multiple people to easily view the LCD screen area. Side angle viewing is easy and not a strain on the eyes. The unit also offers a very respectable 1000:1 contrast ratio, which is also usually reserved for more expensive monitors.

Conclusion
The SyncMaster 943N 19”LCD monitor is a very capable entry-level monitor. While not exceptional in any area, the SyncMaster 943N is a very good choice, for those who want a quality LCD monitor at a budget price.
